Canterbury Pilates Teachers

Lucy Wintle

Lucy Wintle established Canterbury Pilates in 2001. She gained her Body Control Pilates® matwork qualification in 2000, having discovered Pilates whilst recovering from a tennis injury. Since then she has taken training courses in the Reformer, Wunda Chair and Cadillac under the expert tutelage of Helge Fisher in Brighton, and Michelle Cohen from New York. She has also acquired a keen interest in related topics such as nutrition, osteoporosis and Pilates for sports men and women.

Anne Marie Streets

Anne Marie Streets first came across Pilates in 1997 while studying choreography at the Laban Centre in London. Involvement in dance and drama reinforced here conviction that posture was the key to many aspects of artistic performance (voice projection , pointe work etc). She qualified as a Pilates matwork teacher with BASI (Body Arts and Science International) in 2007 and is currently training to teach Pilates on equipment. She is interested in Pilates as a tool of self-awareness, to re-organise weaknesses and imbalances in the body and to correct them accordingly.

Sarah Gurr

Sarah Gurr holds a BSc Hons in physiotherapy (WITS) and is also a matwork qualified Pilates teacher with APPI. She has worked in the field of paediatrics for many years, most recently as a clinical specialist in neuro-paediatrics. Since qualifying as an instructor she is keen to promote 'Pilates For Pregnancy' and also 'Post-natal Pilates.' Her qualification as a physiotherapist puts her in a great position to deliver safe and effective exercises for this specific group.
